The "Silent 1000" Vehicle Mounted Unit (VMU) is a universal vehicle monitoring on-board computer, primarily to record and display trip data. Other functions provide digital displays, audio alarms of speed and rpm when pre-programmed limits are exceeded. Displays of fuel consumption, time of day, trip statistics and hours of service records. Event data, discrete data and driver input are recorded in protected areas of memory.

The four push buttons allow browsing through the available data displays and statistics as well as providing means to enter data and driver log status changes.

The "Silent 1000" also features, an Integral Electronic Log Book enabling both visual display of "hours of service" as well as the generation of hard copy logs. An RS232 communication serial port provides interface for other applications.
